Set Your Priorities Right

Focus on What Truly Matters

Person Praying

TO THE BIBLE - Luke 10:42 NIV
“But few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

LET’S TALK
Walking into a grand library filled with treasures of wisdom, yet spending all your time rearranging the chairs or dusting the tables, is a perfect picture of how many live today—busy, occupied, and exhausted, yet missing the true treasure. Life is not about how many activities fill your days but whether those activities are guided by God’s wisdom.

True success with the Lord is not measured by busyness or accomplishments but by the wisdom of God directing your path. And God’s Word is His wisdom. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom...” (Colossians 3:16 NKJV). This means giving priority to the Word, letting it dominate your thinking, guide your decisions, and shape your character.

Consider Martha and Mary when Jesus visited their home (Luke 10:38–42). Martha, though diligent and
hardworking, was distracted by many tasks. Mary, on the other hand, chose the one thing that mattered most— sitting at the Master’s feet, hearing His Word. The Lord Jesus said Mary had chosen the good part that would never be taken from her. What a lesson! Martha’s service wasn’t wrong, but her priorities were misplaced.

Many young people today fall into the same trap— majoring on the minor, investing their time and strength in pursuits that don’t count for eternity. But the Lord calls us higher. His desire is that you focus on the Word, on fellowship with the Spirit, and on what truly matters.

Make God’s Word your greatest treasure. Train yourself to prize it above all else. As you study, meditate, and let it richly dwell in you, you’ll find yourself walking in wisdom that brings peace, direction, and divine success. You’ll move from glory to glory, victory to victory, and your life will be a testimony of the Lord’s excellence.

Choose today, like Mary, that good part—the Word— and it’ll set you on the path of ever-increasing glory and true success with God.

Dear Father, thank you for your Word which reveals your wisdom and purpose. I focus on the one thing that matters most—my fellowship with you in, through, and by the Word. I walk in your wisdom, guided by your Spirit, and I yield myself completely to your purpose, fulfilling your will, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
